Alexander Rautenberg (PhD student):
I attend the development of MASC3 throughout the last years and try to make sure that operations are going smooth and successful. Besides the technical issues of the UAV itself, the sensor system requires preparation and maintenance. The quality of the measurements must be kept high and rough post processing after every flight ensures a working system and provides an overview of the prevailing conditions.
Martin Schön:
Pilots the MASC UAV during the ISOBAR field campaign and is responsible for its autopilot system. Also finding new ways to use the MASC by implementing new sensors and evaluating data.
Patrick Manz:
Computer Science student and long time research assistant, who was heavily involved in the programming of the sensory system. Apart from coding duty his tasks include operating the ground control station, remotely monitoring the sensor system, and constantly reassuring the pilots that the UAV “is doing just fine”. He’s also currently working on a new ground control software that allows formation flight with multiple fixed wing UAVs.
Hasan Mashni:
Hasan is an Aerospace Engineer and the newest member in Prof. Bange’s Team. Isobar is his first meteorically campaign. Hasan is reasponsible for the software of the onboard measurement system as well as software support.
Kjell zum Berge:
Aerospace Engineer interested in meteorology and sensor systems who is quite new to the Tübingen team. He is operating the ground station to ensure safe operations espeacially during night flights and in rougher conditions. As well as maintaining the sensor systems hardware and checking the incoming data during flight.
